"The National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals program is designed to promote study, stimulate interest in American and world music literature, and encourage each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement. Festivals are designed for ALL members of the NFMC. Festival is not a competitive event but an opportunity to perform and receive evaluation."

Dedicated to finding and fostering young musical talent, the NFMC conducts annual Junior Festivals with more than 117,000 participants. In Washington State, our Festival mission is to encourage student interest and involvement, to educate through constructive comments from qualified adjudicators, and to provide motivation for all students to continue music study and strive for progress. Our students LOVE Festival!
Students must be studying with teachers who are members of WSFMC. Please review our membership page for more details.

HELEN CROWE SNELLING COMPETITION
Mission: The Purpose of this competition is to encourage and support excellence in the performance of classical music, and to showcase young talent.
The Helen Crowe Snelling Competition is unique to Washington State. Ms. Snelling helped organize the Washington State Federation of Music Clubs and was the State President from 1925-1929. She provided many, many years of service to the NFMC. Helen Crowe Snelling was often overheard saying "Washington is my first love and I shall remember the Federation in my will." This she did, and upon her death on October 30, 1981, scholarship monies were made available to Federated clubs in the State of Washington. The will specifically states ". . . to be used for scholarships and awards given in my name in the Student, Young Artist, Camp Scholarship and Junior Departments of the Federation."

The NFMC offers more than $750,000 in state and national competitions, including four $20,000 biennial Young Artist Awards, and the $20,000 Ellis Award for Duo-Pianists. Each of these awards includes two years of concert bookings.
The NFMC competitions include a variety of opportunities, including the Angie Greer Poetry Contest, the National Music Week Essay Contest, the Junior Composers Contest, the Joyce Walsh Disability Awards, Stillman-Kelley Instrumentalist Awards, Student/Collegiate Audition Awards, and many, many more.
