The WSFMC is very active in promoting music education and enjoyment across the state. Our goals are the following:
About National Federation of Music Clubs
The National Federation of Music Clubs, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to MUSIC EDUCATION and the promotion of CREATIVE and PERFORMING ARTS in AMERICA.
Since its founding in 1898, the NFMC has grown into one of the world’s largest music organizations with Junior, Student and Adult clubs and individual
members. The NFMC is chartered by the Congress of the United States.
Dedicated to finding and fostering young musical talent, the NFMC conducts annual Junior Festivals with more than 121,000 participants. The NFMC also
offers more than $750,000 in state and national competitions, including four $10,000 biennial Young Artist awards, and the $20,000 Ellis Award for
Duo Pianists. Each of these awards includes two years of performance bookings.
The NFMC champions American music with awards and commissions. The NFMC fosters the annual Parade of American Music which focuses on programs of music by American composers. Awards are given annually to recognize educational institutions for their promotion and presentation of American music. Other areas of Federation interest include:

- To provide a program that encourages musical growth, promotes study, stimulates interest in American and world music literature, and encourages each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement.
- To provide musicians of all ages with opportunities for encouragement and continued growth.
- To give opportunity for participants to perform and receive an evaluation. In the WSFMC Festivals, participants do not compete against each other, but are rated on individual merits, encouraging a high standard of musical achievement in participants.
- To increase participation of teachers, juniors, and adults in the NFMC Festivals each year. Festivals are for all interested NFMC members.

- Sponsoring National Music Week, the first week of May each year.
- Celebrate Strings, with Awards of Merit recognizing these efforts.
- Support for legislation on bills affecting the welfare of musicians, music education and development of American musical life.
- Official representation to the United Nations.
- Provision of music activities and therapy in veterans' hospitals as well as in institutions of confinement.
- Sponsorship of Opera.
